Jiacheng Xiong is an internationally active pianist whose performances have taken him to Carnegie Hall, Salle Cortot, Hangzhou Grand Theatre, and the Aspen Music Festival and School. He has appeared as soloist with the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra and the Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra, performing works including Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

A prizewinner in numerous international competitions, Xiong received the Israeli Commissioned Piece Prize at the 17th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition, Second Prize at the Kulangsu International Piano Competition, and was a finalist in the Bösendorfer International Piano Competition and semifinalist at the New Orleans International Piano Competition.

His work also extends to contemporary and ensemble repertoire through appearances with the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, Curtis Symphony Orchestra, and Curtis 20/21 Ensemble. With the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, he recorded Christopher Stark’s Prehistoric Songs and Dances That Never Existed for the album Contemporary Voices. He is also featured performing Julius Eastman’s Four Pieces for Piano on Curtis Studio’s A Century of New Sounds.

Xiong is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, where he studied with Robert McDonald and Yoheved Kaplinsky. He is currently based at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where he studies with James Giles.
